Blood Purification Center

Specialized medical services

The usual medical services provided here are dialysis treatment initiation for patients with renal dysfunction (end-stage renal disease) who are admitted to Nephrology, and dialysis treatment for patients who are transferred from an outside medical institution for surgery or treatment at our hospital. Along with hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), whose safety has increased in recent years, has been actively introduced as dialysis therapy at the Purification Center.
Due to the limited number of beds, dialysis is not provided for visiting outpatients. The center also supports special treatments and advanced procedures for intractable diseases, including plasma exchange therapy for autoimmune diseases and liver failure, plasma exchange therapy (DFPP) before blood type incompatible kidney transplantation, leukocyte removal therapy for inflammatory disease, and LDL apheresis for familial hyperlipidemia and refractory nephrosis.

As a rule, one or two courses of hemodialysis are conducted in a day, starting from 9:15 am on Monday through Friday.

CAPD for outpatients is conducted at Outpatient Internal Medicine (West). Outpatients are treated as a rule in the morning and afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday, all by appointment. Telephone consultations are accepted on other days.

Considerations in referring your patients to Blood Purification Center

Presently a two-course system of hemodialysis is used, but since beds are often full nevertheless, admittance may be subject to adjustment. When considering the hospitalization of patients undergoing chronic maintenance dialysis for surgery or tests, or if special blood purification is desired, please consult Nephrology in advance. The date of hospitalization should also be decided in consultation with Nephrology.
