A Guide for Medical Interpreter

Effective communication between patients and our staffs is necessary for providing safe and high-quality medical care under our fundamental policies. Medical interpreters help patients who are non- or limited Japanese proficiency. As patients or our staffs need, medical interpreters are arranged by appointment and remunerated on a per-hour basis as follows. We kindly ask for your understanding as they may be unavailable depending on the hours or on languages.

 A 10% consumption tax is applied when the fees in(     )are charged.

Outpatients Up to 2 hours 3,240 JPY(3,300JPY)
Up to 4 hours 5,400 JPY(5,500JPY)
Inpatients Up to 1 hour 1,080 JPY(1,100JPY)
Up to 2 hours 3,240 JPY(3,300JPY)
Up to 4 hours 5,400 JPY(5,500JPY)
  1. English, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are available.
  2. Please note that an interpreter who meets your requirements may sometimes be unavailable.
  3. The cancelation fee will be charged after 11am on the day before your appointment 〔 outpatients, ¥3,240(¥3,300),inpatients, ¥1,080(¥1,100)〕

Supplementary regulations;
  1. A. This regulation was carried out from 1st July 2014.

  3. C. Medical interpretation includes in-person and remote interpretation (video, telephone).

Consultation times

First visit 8:30 am to 11:00 am
Revisit 8:30 am to 11:30 am
Revisit with appointment 8:30 am to 3:00 pm

※First-time visitors to Osaka University Hospital must have a referral from a physician.

Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays New Year’s Holidays: Dec. 29 to Jan. 3
