1838 | The scholar of Dutch learning Koan Ogata opened the school Tekijuku. |

1869 | A temporary hospital was constructed under the jurisdiction of the Education Ministry within the premises of Daifukuji Temple, Uehonmachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka. |

1879 | A new hospital was constructed at Nakanoshima, Kita-ku, Osaka, and renamed Osaka General Hospital. |
1880 | Osaka General Hospital was renamed Osaka Prefectural Hospital, and Osaka Prefectural Medical School was established. |

1915 | Osaka Prefectural Medical School was renamed Osaka Prefectural Medical College. |
1919 | Osaka Prefectural Medical College was abolished according to the University Ordinance and re-established as Osaka Medical College. The hospital was renamed Osaka Medical College Hospital. |
1931 | Osaka Imperial University was founded. Osaka Medical College was transferred to Osaka Imperial University and renamed Osaka Imperial University Medical School. At the same time, the hospital became Osaka Imperial University Clinic. |

1947 | Osaka Imperial University was renamed Osaka University, and accordingly the clinic was renamed Osaka University Clinic. |
1949 | Osaka University Clinic was renamed Osaka University Hospital. |
1953 | Osaka University Dental Clinic was founded, and accordingly dentistry was separated from the clinical section of Osaka University Hospital. |
1964 | First-stage hospital reconstruction work (hospital wards) was completed. |
1966 | Second-stage hospital reconstruction work (hospital wards) was completed. |

1970 | Third-stage hospital reconstruction work (clinics) was completed. |
1973 | Fourth-stage hospital reconstruction work (clinics, garage/security building) was completed. |
1993 | New building was constructed at Yamadaoka, Suita City. The hospital was integrated into the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University Hospital. |
